Charitable organizations these days accept credit cards. What the charity does not want to do is give a proportion of the donated funds to a bank when they accept a credit card through their eftpos terminals. If a charity in Australia is registered, and has a certificate from the Australian Taxation Office then it may become eligible for a special rate from its eftpos provider. This is because Visa and MasterCard charge a reduced fee, and in some cases do not charge the banks for transactions by registered charities. If you are a charity then the merchant bank you deal with may need to be approached if you would like to investigate this further and take advantage of these rates.
