When I first started checking out .net jobs I was amazed how much discussion there was about garbage collectors. As you know in the computer world a garbage collector is an essential part of memory management. It enumerates all the unusable objects and reclaims the memory allocated to them. With the cost of computer memory coming down so fast you would think that developing better and faster garbage collectors would be on the back burner of development but it isn’t. More memory availability only means that larger programs can be run and more multi-tasking takes place so memory management continues to be of paramount importance.
