The most common problem that people who is not wearing shoes is the cracks in the skin around the heel. And fissure is what is known technically. A good analogy is to think about what happens to the skin of a tomato when it is squashed – the skin cracks or splits. The fat gets squashed and the skin wants to crack this is what happens under the heel. If the skin is moist and stretches, it won’t crack but if the skin is hard and dry ii will crack and rip the skin below. Thus shoes are helpful as is prevents the fat pad under the heel from expanding and trying to cause the skin to crack. Cracked heels are painful.
