Do you design your pond around your fish, or your fish around your pond? Either way will work. When you are making your koi pond design, you might want to know how many fish you will have. On the other hand you might decide how many fish you want and then plan your pond. It is key that you do not over crowd your space. Too many fish will make filtering difficult. Be sure you choose healthy fish as well. Koi are very resilient, but if they start out sick they might not recover. If you are not careful, you risk getting the rest of your fish sick, or contaminating your pond.
