I admire my stepmother, who taught me all my card magic, to this day.  The most important lesson I learned from my stepmother was something that I think everyone learns at one time or another within his or her life.  She taught me that you don’t have to have blood ties to be considered part of a family and more importantly that accepting a new member into a family does not mean that they must take the place of an existing member.  I was reluctant to accept her as my mother for fear that I would be letting my own mother down.  But my stepmother was a woman of kindness and patience that eventually taught me that I could love two individuals as my mother and I was so much more lucky to do so
