Senior Dating Can Offer Companionship
Oftentimes, I think about my grandmother who was a very impressive and strong-willed individual. She kept her family going during the depression and following a terrible accident that claimed my grandfather’s leg. She spent her life “doing” and when it came time for her to retire, she went to a nursing home !
I have never fully understood this because I couldn’t see it the way she did. Senior Dating was not something on her mind, though companionship within her religious community was acceptable. She was totally committed to my grandfather and didn’t want to deface that commitment somehow.
As I got older, I realized that she was, in fact, finding male companionship and enjoying it. It’s just that she chose a setting that provided a greater structure. Computers were not yet up and running and the world was a very big place.
If she were to retire today, I think she would do it differently. She would still be committed to my grandfather but she would also connect to others in a different way. I think my grandmother would have found male companionship for travel. She loved a good road trip !
