The Idaho Statesman recently released some interesting statistics regarding children in Idaho.  Some were grim due to the shrinking economy, such as poverty rates and food stamp usage increasing.

However there was some good news in the report.  Here are some highlights:

1.  Fewer children in Idaho live in single parent homes than in neighboring states.  Idaho ranks the second highest in the country.

2.  Idaho jumped from 35th to 23rd in 2007 for the percentage of teens not working or in school.

3.  One in ten children in Idaho have no health insurance.  This 10% is in the middle between Texas with the highest rate at 20% and Massachusetts with 4%.
