The other day he came flying in the driveway in the pickup, leaving a trail of dust all the way down the drive. He had been working in the woods and a chainsaw broke. Now he was looking for his chainsaw blades. My brother and mother and I wandered around looking everywhere we could think of. Suddenly I saw a package marked “blades” down behind the tool chest. Dad grabbed them and ran and I became the hero of the day.

My mom used to live about two hours away from us, and last month when I went to visit her, I saw that she had lost weight and her house was in terrible disarray. She had stopped taking care of herself, and I knew that it was time for her to come and live with us. I didn’t have a medical background, so I decided to learn everything I could about caring for an aging parent. Mom moved in right away, and thanks to the great resources that I was able to find, things have gone better than I had anticipated. I am so glad to have her here with us!

This year we are going to the SunSplash Antalya at the Hillside Su, which promises to be a really good event. I am not entirely sure who’s coming with me yet, but I think it will be such a good event that it does not matter if there’s a few of us or a large group. There are some amazing DJs playing, such as Jamie Lidell, Manasseh Sound System and so many others. It will be really good to see them play live and in Turkey it will be extra special, because we can explore afterwards. There are a lot of Turkey hotels around the area, which mean we can stay there during the festival.

I had to take a class for my law requirement and saw the description for immigration law, thought it looked interesting.  I was thinking it would be mostly a class based on exploring dates laws were put into place, but was pleasantly surprised to learn of all the differences around the world with each country and how they deal with those foreign to their soil.  We all think we know best with who can visit, for how long, and what is required to even let them in.  I realized that we all have our own way of doing things, and plan on taking a more in depth law class next semester to learn more.
